Welcome to the Harbour Arts Centre

Located in the picturesque setting of Irvine Harbourside, The HAC is the cultural hub for North Ayrshire. We offer a diverse programme of theatre, comedy, music and visual arts – often featuring local artists – and a wide range of classes and workshops to suit all ages and abilities.

For the the moment we have had to close our doors and are unable to host any live performances or exhibitions, but we have been working hard to bring our performers and artists directly to you! – At Home at the HAC

John Wetten Brown Exhibition

We are delighted to present a new exhibition by renowned Scottish artist John Wetten Brown. Bright, lively and prospectively challenged; ‘squinty’ is an apt description of this highly individual style.

There are several themes running through John’s work, from influences of the atmospheric fishing villages of the East Neuk of Fife and villages and harbours on the west coast to his interpretation of some this country’s most scenic places and sights, including the historic architecture of the West End of Glasgow.

North Ayrshire Place Partnership Microgrants

The North Ayrshire Place Partnership is pleased to announce its Microgrants Programme; grants of up to £1,000 for artists living and working in North Ayrshire to develop their creative practice. Aiming to help support creative practitioners following the impact of COVID-19 on the cultural sector, the Microgrants will fund approximately 15 artists across the area, working in visual arts, theatre, music, craft, dance, literature, or film.

The selection panel will prioritise applications that address the following criteria:

  • Support artists to sustain their practice following the impact of Covid-19
  • Support small scale projects to test out ideas and foster new relationships within the community
  • Support professional development for creative practitioners

For further information and to apply, please read the below Microgrant Guidelines and Complete the Application Form and Equal Opportunities Form. Please submit your application by 12pm on Friday 7 May 2021.

The North Ayrshire Place Partnership is funded by North Ayrshire Council alongside The National Lottery through Creative Scotland’s Place Partnership Programme. The partnership was created to encourage and support local organisations to work together in the community to strengthen creative development, develop new opportunities for local creative practitioners and widen access to creative activity in the area.
